The Guyana Energy Agency (GEA) joined scores of participants yesterday for the Green Walk and Exhibition 2025, organized by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in celebration of World Environment Day, observed annually on June 05.

The awareness walk started at Camp Street and ended at the National Park.

Held under the global theme: Ending Plastic Pollution, the event aimed to raise public awareness about the importance of environmental sustainability and reducing pollution. It also encouraged persons to adopt the three Rs: reduce, reuse and recycle. The overall goal was to inspire individuals to take meaningful action in caring for, protecting and preserving our planet for future generations.

At the exhibition, the GEA showcased several items along with signature publications highlighting the Agency’s sustainable energy initiatives. The display featured a miniature solar-powered home equipped with electric vehicle (EV) charging capacity to demonstrate how individuals can maximise the use of solar energy. It also educated attendees on simple yet effective sustainable practices they can adopt in their daily lives.

The GEA was awarded first place for Best Chant and second place for Uniformity.

Together, let’s make sustainability a lifestyle to build a low-carbon future!
