The Guyana Energy Agency (GEA) participated in the recently concluded Guyana Energy Conference and Supply Chain Expo 2026. The four-day event was held from Tuesday, February 17, to Friday, February 20, 2026. The GEA had an exhibition booth (No. 67) in Main Auditorium 1 at this four-day event, which was held under the theme ‘Building Tomorrow’s Future Today.”
At the event that brought together Government officials, industry leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders to explore developments and opportunities in energy and supply chains, the GEA exhibition team had an excellent platform to engage the wide-range of stakeholders.
The team, consisting of staff members from the Energy and Energy Statistics, Fuel Marking, and Legal and Licensing Divisions, to connect with local, regional, and international stakeholders.
The discussions were centred on different aspects of the Agency’s operations, including renewable energy, energy efficiency, energy conservation, electric mobility (electric vehicle infrastructure), climate resilience, and sustainable development. The team also highlighted the legal and licensing processes for the sale of petroleum and petroleum products.
The team also used the event to educate attendees about sustainable initiatives being advanced by the Government of Guyana, with the GEA serving as the implementing agency. These initiatives underscore the nation’s commitment to accelerating the transition to sustainable energy, as well as promoting renewable energy and energy efficiency across Guyana.
Additionally, these discussions were complemented with the distribution of a variety of the Agency’s energy publications, most notably the Guidelines for an Energy Efficient Home, My Green Life and Green My Business booklets.
Moreover, at the exhibition, the GEA showcased its signature three-dimensional (3D) replica of the recently commissioned 0.7-megawatt (MW) Moco Moco Hydropower Station. This model allowed the team to demonstrate the hydropower station’s full setup and various system components, while emphasising the importance of renewable energy such as solar, hydro and wind energy (as part of the Energy Matrix supported by the Low Carbon Development Strategy (LCDS) 2030), and their benefits to both communities and the nation.
Ultimately, the end goal is to foster public awareness and cooperation in building a sustainable, low-carbon future for all Guyanese. See images below from the expo. See images captured at the expo.
